How old are you?

How are you? My name is XXX, I am 18 years old and study at XXX, nice to meet you. It's a normal introduction for korean to tell other people their age in advance as Korean maintains the strong hierarchical relationship between the olds and youngs. If korean know that you are older than them, they will treat you in a more respectful way. Therefore, they care so much about a person's age.
Korean regard asking many questions about the person's personal life as a way of getting to know you more closely and being a friend. Some questions may make you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed, but please to understand that they want to be close to you. Do not be having a culture shock, just come with an open mind and heart. When you visit Korea, you will experience their unique culture.
